Points to consider when writing a CTA

If your writing jobs involve business blogs, you’ll likely have come across a request for a call to action – or CTA, for short.

Typically placed in the final paragraph of a piece, CTAs are designed to entice readers to perform a specific action. From ordering items and completing contact forms to calling for further information, CTAs can vary, but there are some points worth considering.

Keep CTAs direct but informative

Make your CTA clear and to the point, while letting readers understand the benefit of performing a specific action. For example, “Get in touch for a free no-obligation quote”.

Invite readers to connect

Consider giving your audience an opportunity to ask questions in the CTA that could be holding them back from making a purchase or hiring a service. For instance, “Contact us to find the answers you need”, or “For further information, get in touch”.

Create a sense of urgency

By adding simple words to the end of your CTA you can encourage readers to act quicker. For example, instead of “Subscribe to our newsletter” consider “Subscribe to our newsletter today” or “Subscribe now”.

Remember where your audience is

Finally, when closing a blog with a CTA, don’t ask readers to reach out to you via the website, as they’re already on there, viewing your content.

If you’d like to test your CTA skills writing from home, we can help. At Words of Worth, we’re always looking for dedicated writers who create quality content. If you have strong English skills and deliver work to deadlines, apply to receive writer’s jobs with us today.
