Around this time last year, Google launched its content curator app Keen. This could be seen as Google’s answer to Pinterest, in that you can tell Google what you’re interested in, and it looks for mixed-media sources based on that subject.
Whether Google pinched the idea from Pinterest or not, the tool certainly has its uses for writers. If you find yourself writing regularly about one subject, you can set up a Keen based on it. You might write for a site about fire safety, for example, so you can create Keens for key phrases like “fire extinguisher” or “fire alarm”, and you’ll be presented with breaking news, blogs and even videos on the subject.
It’s kind of a more immersive version of Google alerts, which have been around since 2003, and we recommend having a play around on it!
